Lucy Boynton – Wonderland Magazine
From child stardom to head girl of Hollywood.
WONDERLAND – Like any actor (or slightly melodramatic child) worth their showbiz salt, Lucy Boynton practised crying in the mirror growing up. Obsessed with Anna Chlumsky’s character in 90s classic My Girl and “scandalised” by her talent and young age, Boynton tells me she’d pause and rewind the funeral scene, “I’d go up to the bathroom and play out her dialogue seeing if I could do what she did and make myself cry like her… It was a long summer.”
Arriving on screen at just 12 years old herself, alongside Renée Zellweger in Miss Potter, Boynton’s CV lists no cheesy rom-com blunders or sitcom shaped snatches at the limelight. Becoming one of Hollywood’s most watched and most wanted young talents, at 23 she’s carved a career from child stardom without ever once compromising her lmic integrity, climbing to her covetable position through a string of challenging roles. Plus, all those years of practise- weeping must mean she’s got crying on demand in the bag by now.

Lucy Joins "Bohemian Rhapsody"
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’: Lucy Boynton Joins Queen Pic As Mary Austin
DEADLINE – Lucy Boynton is ready to rock the Queen biopic. The Gypsy alumna will play Mary Austin, the lifelong companion of Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek) in Bohemian Rhapsody for Fox, New Regency and GK Films.
Londoner Austin was the singer’s muse from Queen’s early years and into the band’s massive success. She and Mercury lived together for years and later split up on good terms. He wrote a number of songs about her including “Love of My Life” from A Night at the Opera, the 1975 album that also included “Bohemian Rhapsody” and moved Queen into the rock echelon.
Boynton was a regular on Netflix’s drama series Gypsy, starring Naomi Watts. She also appeared in the features Sing Street and Don’t Knock Twice and has roles in Rebel in the Rye — which opens Friday — and the upcoming Murder on the Orient Express and Apostle. Boynton is repped by CAA and United Agents.
"Gypsy" Canceled By Netflix
‘Gypsy’ Canceled By Netflix After 1 Season
DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Netflix’s drama series Gypsy will not be returning for a second season. I have learned that the Internet TV network has opted not to proceed with a second installment of the psychological thriller starring Naomi Watts. Netflix declined comment.
The development is somewhat surprising because Netflix had been in conversations with the producers about a second season and the cancellation decision comes after a writers room had been up and running for four weeks, working on storylines and scripts for Season 2.
